ENUS32821What you will see

When you use the automatic document feed (ADF) scanner, the stack of paper exiting the scanner is not straight or the ends of the stack do not evenly line up.

Recommended actions

Check the following:

  • Examine the resulting copies/scans. If the image on the scan/copied page is crooked, the issue is occurring as the paper feeds into the ADF. for an article containing more information on this issue, as well as suggested actions to take to rectify it.
  • Make sure that the paper stop in the exit tray is set to the proper position.
  • Confirm that the paper/print media is properly loaded into the ADF. Make sure the paper support guides are set in the correct position. In their proper position, they should lightly rest against the sides of the paper stack, preventing the stack from shifting while not binding the paper. NOTE: For more detailed paper loading instructions, refer to the printer's User's Guide.
  • Check and clean the paper-feed roller and the separator pad on the ADF. If either of these parts appear worn, they will need to be replaced.
  • Do not load different sizes or types of paper into the ADF at the sa me time.
  • Try printing on plain copy paper if you are not already doing so. Please try this even if the print media you are using has worked in the past. Certain specialty media are more difficult for the printer to feed.
  • If the issue continues after attempting all of the above recommendations, please contact Lexmark Technical Support for additional assistance. For information on how to contact Lexmark Technical Support, click here.
