What you will see
When adding or installing a Staplesmart Finisher output option onto the printer, the cover from the top of the printer does not fit onto the top of the finisher option.
Explanation
When adding an output option onto the printer, the cover located on the top rear of the printer must be removed. Normally, you would install that cover onto the corresponding slot located on top of the output option.
However, in the case of the Staplesmart Finisher output option, the cover from the printer does not fit. This is due to a design issue with the option.
Recommended Actions
To obtain a cover that will fit on top of the Staplesmart Finisher output option, contact Lexmark Technical Support.
NOTE: You can operate the printer and the finisher without the cover installed. However, the cover does serve to prevent items from falling into the top of the finisher option and into the gears and rollers of the finisher. It is not recommended to run the finisher option, therefore, for an extended period of time without the cover installed. Also, do not create your own cover to put on top of the finisher option. If the cover were to come loose, it can catch on the gears or the rollers inside the finisher option.
