What you will see
After upgrading the Universal Print Driver (UPD) to version 2.9.0.0 or 2.9.1.0, one or more of the following Printing Preferences user interface (UI) display issues may appear:
In the Quality tab, four radio buttons appear blank and the Halftone control does not appear. In the Load Settings list, the Print Quality Defaults profile is not available. In the Other Options tab for the PCL5 emulation driver, the Graphic mode GL/2 Raster options are not available.

Recommended solution

UPD is upgraded using Print Management (i.e., printmanagement.msc)… | Close and reopen the tool after the upgrade is complete. |
UPD is upgraded using any other method… | Restart the explorer.exe process after the upgrade is complete. |
You encounter the problem on a client computer in a Point and Print scenario… | Restart the explorer.exe process on the client computer. |
To restart explorer.exe, perform the following steps:
Step | Action |
1 | Right-click the taskbar and then click Start Task Manager. |
2 | Go to the Processes tab. |
3 | Select explorer.exe, and then click End Process. |
4 | Click File, and then click New Task (Run...). |
5 | In the Create New Task dialog, type explorer.exe and click OK to start the process. |
NOTE: Rebooting the computer also restarts the explorer.exe process.
Explanation
The executing process is still running older Dynamic Link Libraries (DLLs).
