How to Install the Lexmark PPDs for the T64x, W840, and C920 Printers into CUPS

Overview

This article explains how to download, extract and install Lexmark PPDs for the T64x, W840, and C920 printers.

Downloading the PPD Package

  1. Open a Terminal or Command Line session. (Refer to your operating system documentation for help, if necessary.)

  2. Create a directory named lexppds from the root directory as follows:# mkdir /lexppds

  3. Click here to download the Lexmark PPD package and save it to /lexppds. Please refer to the table below for the appropriate file name.

    Lexmark T64x family PPD-Files-LMAAT.tar.Z
    Lexmark W840 PPD-Files-LMAAU.tar.Z
    Lexmark C920 PPD-Files-LMAAW.tar.Z

Extracting the PPD Package

  1. From the command line, type cd /lexppds to enter that directory.

  2. Uncompress the file by running the uncompress command below.# uncompress PPD-Files-LMAAx.tar.ZNOTE:

    An

    x is the variable for the package.

  3. Untar the package as follows:# tar -xvf PPD-Files-LMAAx.tarNOTE: A new directory will appear in the /lexppds/ppd_files folder.

Installing the PPD Package

  1. Type cd /lexppds/ppd_files to enter the ppd_files directory.

  2. Execute the following script:# ./install_ppd.sh You will see the following screen output:
