Lexmark T640, T642, or T644: Printhead Error (930, 931, 932, 933, 934, 935, 936)

ENUS23184

Affected Products:

Single-Function: T640, T642, T644

Issue Description:

The printer posts a Printhead Error (930, 931, 932, 933, 934, 935, 936) where a cable on the printer's system board may be slightly loose.

Solution:

Clearing a 93x Error

  1. Power the printer off.

  2. Leave the printer powered off for at least one minute.

  3. Power the printer back on. If powering the printer off and on clears the error, continue using the printer but keep an eye on it to see if any printhead errors return.

  4. If the printer continues to display a printhead error message, check the message.

    • If the printer is posting a 933 or 933.00 Printhead Error, a cable on the printer's system board may be slightly loose. This issue can be fixed by reseating or pushing in on the cable. For instructions on checking the cable,

      .

    • If the error is a different number or if reseating the cable does not fix the issue, continue with the steps below.

  5. If the printer continues to display a printhead error message on power-up or if the printhead error appears only intermittently, make sure the printer is plugged straight into the wall outlet and not through an uninterrupted power supply, surge device, or power strip. These devices can cause a "low amperage" problem to occur, triggering the error.

    NOTE:

The error can occur even if the printer has worked when connected to this device in the past.

  6. If the printer is already connected directly to the wall, check to see if the printer is sharing the outlet with another high power device. If so, power off the printer and try plugging it into a known grounded outlet by itself.

  7. If the printer continues to display a printhead error, the printer will probably require service. It may have a defective printhead assembly or there might be a problem with the system board or one of the printhead cables. Please contact Lexmark Technical Support (see Contacting Lexmark Technical Support below) or a local authorized service center.

    NOTE:

If the printer is posting a 930 or 930.00 Printhead Error and the printer was recently serviced, confirm with the service location that the correct printhead assembly was installed. A 930 printhead error indicates that the wrong printhead assembly is installed.

    Addtionally:

If the printer has not been serviced recently, seek service on the printer as usual.
