Printing the Menu Settings Page

Overview

The printer has the ability to print many types of internal pages without being connected to a computer or to a network. The most useful of these is the Menu Settings Page (sometimes referred to as an Internal Test Page). This page, or set of pages, shows all the current user settings and code levels on the printer.

Useful Functions

Printing the menu settings page(s) can be useful in a number of ways. For example:

• If you are experiencing a configuration problem (e.g., paper is not feeding from the correct tray), you can check the current printer settings, as listed on the menu settings page(s), to make sure they are all correct.
• The menu settings page(s) is also useful as a reference for locating items in the printer menu system.
• Keeping a printed copy of these pages means you have a record of the printer's settings in case the printer is ever serviced or a setting is accidentally changed.
• If you are experiencing problems getting the printer to work properly, printing the menu settings page(s) can be a useful way of determining if the hardware of the printer is the source of the problem. If the menu settings page prints correctly, the source of the printing problem is probably not the hardware of the printer. This is especially true for communications problems (e.g., if the printer does not respond when you send a print job to it).

Solution

You will need to use the buttons on the printer's LCD screen. To select and print the menu settings page(s), do the following:

1. Press this button to enter the printer menu.

   Note:  The menu settings page is accessed under the Reports menu.



2. Press this button until the checkmark is next to Reports.



3. Press this button once to enter the Reports menu.

   Note:  A new list of menu choices should appear.



4. Press this button until the checkmark is the next Menu Settings Page.



5. Press this button just once.

   Note:  The printer should display Printing Menu Settings Page and the menu settings page(s) should print out.
