Overview
This document outlines the steps to lock/unlock the operator panel buttons of the following Lexmark Forms (Dot Matrix) printers: 2580+, 2580n+, 2581+, 2581n+, 2590+, 2590n+, 2591+, 2591n+.
NOTE: When the operator panel is locked, the padlock light in the upper right is on and only the Start/Stop, FormFeed, Tear Off, and Load/Unload keys are active.
Procedures
For Locking
| Step | Action |
1 | With the printer ON and or at the READY state, press and hold the START/STOP button for five to ten seconds or wait for the POWER LED light to illuminate as solid ORANGE/AMBER, which indicates that the printer is OFF or on Power Saver Mode. |
2 | Press and hold on buttons TRACTOR and LOAD/UNLOAD simultaneously. While holding these, tap the START/STOP button to turn the printer ON. Continue holding the buttons until printer completes its POST (Power On Self Test) sequence. At this time the printhead will move away then back to its home position. |
3 | The Lock icon will then turn on, indicating that the operator panel is already locked. |
For Unlocking
| Step | Action |
1 | Repeat Steps 1 and 2 for locking the operator panel. |
2 | The lock icon then turns off, indicating that the operator panel is already unlocked. |
