What you will see
When an Automatic Sheet Feeder (ASF) option is installed and the ASF Function is enabled in the printer, the following scenarios might occur:
- The media won’t load when the “LOAD/UNLOAD” button is pressed.
- The printer does not print the Network Set up Page.
- With Continuous Paper loaded on the printer and the ASF Function enabled, the printer might continuously print the Network Set up Page when there was actually only a single attempt to print it.
- When a cut-sheet (single page) type of media is loaded, the printer loads and prints the first cut-sheet media correctly, but then it does not load the next sheet automatically. Pressing any button on the printer, however, results in the printer loading the second page and printing it as if the paper loading is being done manually.
Explanation
The development team of the 25xx+ models decided to have the START/STOP and LINEFEED buttons to replace the LOAD/UNLOAD button ONLY when ASF is installed. Therefore, the first bullet above describes the printer functioning normally for as long as the ASF is installed. This is unlike its predecessors of the 25xx series, wherein aside from the START/STOP and LINEFEED buttons, the LOAD/UNLOAD button can also be used to feed cut-sheets or continuous forms even when the ASF is installed.
However, the printer should not behave as the rest of the above bullets describe. To address such issues as bullets two, three, and four describe, please contact Lexmark Technical Support to have the printer’s firmware updated.
