Printer freezes or locks up in a Microsoft Windows Vista or Windows 7 environment

What you will see

Printer or MFP hangs or freezes when connected to a network that contains multiple Microsoft Windows Vista or Windows 7 clients.

Other identifiers of this issue:

  • -Printer resides in a multi-workstation environment
  • -A single-workstation network environment does not display this behavior
  • -More than one workstation (PC) has an IP port or print queue created or captured to the printer
  • -Local printers connected via USB cable do not display this behavior

NOTE: Since Windows XP will not experience this issue.

  1. Print the Menus Settings page.

  2. Look under Device Information and take note of the current Base code level.

  3. Use the decision table below for firmware update recommendations.

  4. Update printer firmware as necessary.
