LDD/LPM Apache Agent Service Stops when Unexpected or Malformed Data Is Received

What you will see

The Lexmark Document Distributor (LDD) Apache Agent service stops when it receives unexpected or malformed data. No service crash messages display and no errors show in Windows Event Viewer.

The following entries can be seen in the Apache Agent log:

<Date> <Time>,261 [Thread-1] INFO com.lexmark.workflow.aagent.ApacheAgentSvc - IOException occurred processing request <Date> <Time>,261 [Thread-1] INFO com.lexmark.workflow.aagent.ApacheAgentSvc - Message length outside the limit: 542393671 <Date> <Time>,261 [Thread-1] ERROR com.lexmark.workflow.aagent.ApacheAgentSvc - Error processing request <Date> <Time>,261 [Thread-1] ERROR com.lexmark.workflow.aagent.ApacheAgentSvc - IOException occurred processing request

NOTE:
To open Services, go to Start > Accessories > Run > type Services.msc, and then locate Apache Agent.

Recommended solution

The fix will be available in LDD version 4.8.4.0 and Lexmark Print Management ( LPM) version 2.3.15, which will be released soon. Should you need the fix prior to the release date, please contact Lexmark Technical Support.

Explanation

The unexpected or malformed data may be from security scanners such as the Nessus product. The fix protects the service against such data by disregarding them. Thus, the service will continue to run.
