Authentication Errors Due to Improper CA Certificate Installed on Multiple Product Generations

Solution / Software: Card Authentication, Print Release and Smart Card Authentication

Issue Description:

Swiping or inserting your card leads to an authentication error. This particular error relates to a decrypt-integrity check failure.

Solution:

Check and verify that your certificates are correct and valid.

To do this:

  1. Open the printer's EWS by entering http://<printer's_IP_address>, where printer's_IP_ address is the printer's TCP/IP address.

  2. Click on Settings.

  3. Click on Security.

  4. Click on Certificate Management.

  5. Click on Certificate Authority* Management.

  6. Verify proper installed certificates, or click on New and then Browse to select a proper PEM** file.

* Entity that issues a digital certificate (CA certificate), which certifies the ownership of a public key by the named subject of the certificate.

** Privacy-enhanced Electronic Mail (PEM) is a common encoding file format for security certificates that contains an included base64 (ASCII) encoded block of data encapsulated within it.
