Lexmark 'Scan to Court'

Readme

v2.0.4 (6/11)

Overview

This ReadMe file pertains to the current release of the LEXMARK SCAN TO COURT application for multifunction printers (MFPs).

Lexmark Scan to Court is an embedded Java application that is installed as a flash file on multifunction printers (MFPs) that support the Lexmark Embedded Solutions Framework (eSF) v1.2 or v2.0. Scan to Court enables users to scan documents related to court proceedings into an MFP and then e-mail the documents to court offices.

With Scan to Court, users can establish a unique profile for each court and can use these profiles to send e-mail to the courts.

  • Up to ten court profiles can be created on an MFP.
  • Users can specify the court name, the maximum e-mail size, and the default e-mail address in each court profile.
  • When a court profile is selected from the list, the "To" field of the e-mail is automatically filled in with the default e-mail address from the court profile.

New Features

  • Scan to Court v2.0.4 adds support for new Lexmark printers.
  • A third option has been added that enables an e-mail attachment to be split into multiple e-mails if the attachment exceeds the predefined size limit. For example, the attachment can be broken into multiple attachments and sent in separate e-mails each containing one attachment. The subject line of each e-mail indicates the attachment sequence (1 of 3, 2 of 3, 3 of 3).
  • In previous releases of Scan to Court, the administrator could choose one of two options for attachments that exceeded the size limit:
    • The user would receive an error message.
    • Or, the single attachment would be broken into multiple attachments and sent in one e-mail.

NOTE:
This new option is supported only on the eSF v2.0 MFPs listed in the table above.

Limitations and compatibility of the release

  1. XPS and Secure PDF file formats are not supported.

  2. For most supported printer models, if a paper jam occurs in the automatic document feeder (ADF), the e-mail will not be sent after the job is restarted. However, for models that have the "Page Level" option on their Web pages under "General Settings" -> "Scanner Jam Recovery, "the restart options under "Page Level" can be used to successfully restart the job and send the e-mail.

  3. If a user presses the "Cancel" button after selecting either "Save as Shortcut" or "Search Address Book" -> "Search For," the e-mail will not be sent.

  4. When scanning a document with landscape orientation, if a user selects the "Edge Erase" option, the side of the page 90 degrees clockwise from the side the user chose will be erased. For example, if the user chooses to erase the top side of the page, the right side of the page will be erased instead.

  5. If a user scans a large multi-page TIFF attachment with Custom Job ON and selects or changes options periodically, the e-mail attachments may be missing some pages (this applies only to multiple attachments/multiple e-mails). The page count will be correct, but individual pages may be missing, and there may be duplicates or triplicates of some pages.
