Directions for Installing a Flash Memory or Firmware Card

To ensure you are installing the card correctly, please follow the directions in the table below.

StepAction

1

If a network card has been installed, you may need to remove it before installing the flash memory or firmware card.

2

Use the image below to locate the two flash memory and firmware card connectors (labeled 1 and 2 in the image)

Note:  Use slot 1 (the left-hand side slot) when possible.

Note:  For a picture of the system board showing the connector locations, click here.

3

Holding the flash memory or firmware card (A) by the locking clips, align the plastic pins on the card with the holes on the system board. Push the card firmly into place and then release the locking clips. The entire length of the connector on the card must touch the system board and be locked into the connector (B).

Note:  Be careful not to damage the connectors.

If the Card will not go in Completely

StepAction

1

If the card starts to go into the slot but will not go in all the way, try it in the other slot (if that slot is empty).

2

If the card will not fit into either slot, verify that it is designed for this model of Lexmark printer. Flash memory or firmware cards designed for other Lexmark printer models may not work with this printer.

3

If it is a Lexmark card, there may be an obstruction behind the system board that is preventing the card from being fully installed. Please contact Lexmark Technical Support.
