Note:  Before solving the problem, print the Print Quality Test Pages. From the home screen, touch Settings > Troubleshooting > Print Quality Test Pages.

  1. Depending on your operating system, specify the paper type from the Printing Preferences or Print dialog box.

    Notes:

    • Make sure that the setting matches the paper loaded in the tray.
    • You can also change the setting on the printer control panel. From the home screen, touch Settings > Paper > Tray Configuration > Paper Size/Type.
  2. Print the document.

Do vertical white lines appear on prints?

Step 2

    Check if you are using the recommended paper type.

  1. Load the specified paper source with the recommended paper type.

  2. Print the document.

Go to step 3.

Step 3

  1. Remove the printhead wiper, and then clean the printhead lenses.

  2. Print the document.

Do horizontal dark lines appear on prints?

Go to step 4.

The problem is solved.

Step 4

  1. Remove the photoconductor units.

    Warning—Potential Damage:  Do not expose the photoconductor units to direct light. Extended exposure to light may cause print quality problems.

    Warning—Potential Damage:  Do not touch the photoconductor drums. Doing so may affect the quality of future print jobs.

  2. Insert the photoconductor units.

  3. Print the document.

Do vertical white lines appear on prints?
