Vertical black smudges check

Issue description

Black marks or smudges appear on the side the page. The length varies between 0.5 – 2.0 inches vertically.

The print quality defect is observed to appear at the imaging kit frequency (94 mm period), although some pages may not show it.

Solution

Follow the procedures that provided to resolve the issue:

1. Perform a print a test with a supported media then re-print to see if the Print Quality Issue (PQI) reappears.

   • If the PQI has improved then issue is resolved.
   • If the PQI persists, proceed to the next step.


2. Ensure that the paper path is free from any contamination.

   • If the PQI has improved then issue is resolved.
   • If the PQI persists, go to the Lexmark Support site and search for your printer name or solution with the print quality issue for more detailed information.
