31.4x reinstall missing or unresponsive cartridge

Issue description

When printing or copying a document, a 31.4x error message prompts even if the toner cartridge is installed in the printer.

Solution

  1. Power the printer off and remove the affected toner cartridge.

  2. Reinstall the toner cartridge and make sure that it is pushed all the way into the slot.

  3. If the issue persists, try using a different toner cartridge if available. If none, replace the affected toner cartridge.

    To order toner, follow these steps:

    1. Go to Lexmark.com.

    2. Click Supplies & Accessories. In the dropdown menu, click Find Supplies.

    3. In the search bar, type the printer model or supplies part number. Click Find my supplies.

    4. In the product page, scroll down and look for the Supplies tab.

    5. Choose the product to order and Add to Cart.
