Transfer module cleaner noise

Issue description

A low-pitched groaning noise associated with the transfer module cleaner is audible and loudest near the duplex door.

The noise is often at a frequency of once or twice per transfer module belt revolution (once or twice every 3-7 seconds depending on print speed) but can be nearly constant in extreme cases.

The noise occurs during printer startup and is more likely to occur in cold environments.

Solution

Note:  Waste toner and heat generation that comes from normal printing may alleviate the issue.

Perform the following. After each step, repeat the print job to check if the issue has been resolved.

  1. Force a color calibration cycle.

    • From the control panel, navigate to Settings > Device > Maintenance > Configuration > Menu > Toner Patch Sensor Setup > Full calibration
  2. Move the printer to a warmer and drier environment.

If the issue persists, then search for more information related to this issue or contact customer support.
