A connection to print management client failed error displays when launching Print Release

What you will see

When you press the Print Releaseicon on the printer home screen, you may encounter the error “Connection to Print Management Client failed.

This happens after authenticating via Manual Login (i.e., using username/password) on the printers listed below with EC3 firmware level.


NOTE:
Pressing Print Release after authenticating via Badge works.

Affected printers

This issue has been seen on the following Lexmark models, but other models not listed here could be affected:

  • C748
  • C792
  • C925
  • C950
  • X548
  • X748
  • X792
  • X925
  • X95x
  • 6500e


NOTE:
An x denotes any number within a given printer model series.

Recommended solution

Update the printer’s firmware code to EC4 (P440) or the latest level.
