Intermittent 43.40 error message

Issue description

The printer displays any of these error codes on the control panel: 43.40P, 43.40Q, 43.40R, 43.40S, 43.40T, 43.40U, 43.40V, 43.40W, 43.40X, 43.40Y or 43.40Z

Note:  The error codes above are intermittent and can be cleared by opening and closing the printer front cover. If the error persistently occurs, proceed to the Solution section of this article.

Solution

Follow the troubleshooting steps below according to the encountered error message.

  • 43.40P, 43.40Q, 43.40R, 43.40S, 43.40T, 43.40U, 43.40V or 43.40W
    • Check the life status of the toner cartridge. To do so, open the printer front cover, remove then reinsert the toner cartridge, then close the printer front cover.
    • Note:  Opening and closing the printer front cover to check the cartridge life status will cause the 43.40P, 43.40Q, 43.40R, 43.40S, 43.40T, 43.40U, 43.40V or 43.40W error message to disappear and the printer to go back to its printing state. If an 88.xx error occurs, proceed with the steps below.

      • If the cartridge status is 88.30 or 88.40 and the cartridge is empty, please replace the toner cartridge with a new one.
      • If the cartridge status is 88.10 or 88.20 and the cartridge is nearly empty, please procure in advance a replacement toner cartridge to ensure uninterrupted printing.
      • If there is no problem with the cartridge status, please contact support.
  • 43.40X or 43.40Y
    • Contact support.
  • 43.40Z
    • Open and close the printer front cover.
    • If opening and closing the front cover causes a 32.40Z message, contact support.
