Unable to Authenticate Card Reader After Replacing Printer Controller Board

What you will see

The printer posts an "An error occurred while reading the card. Remove your card and try again. If this error continues, please contact your system administrator." message on the home screen.


NOTE:
This happens only after replacing the printer controller board.

Solution

Step 1. Update the printer firmware to at least the latest release found on the Lexmark support site. Once you obtain the file, you may proceed and update the firmware by following the steps from xref_Update_xref.

Step 2. Perform Erase Printer Memory by navigating through Settings > Device > Maintenance > Out of Service Erase > Sanitize all nonvolatile memory.

Step 3. Configure the printer. The above step is required in order for SCAC to work.
