Issue description
Single or multiple vertical lines of toner appear on a copied page, scanned image or sent fax page. The lines will be vertical but the image might be skewed or angled because it was sent through the Auto Document Feeder (ADF) portion of the scanner.
The lines will not be present if you send a document to print directly to the printer, but will appear if you make a copy the same document. The lines could be on one or both sides of a duplex scan.
Possible causes
The glass plates in the ADF scanner portion have some foreign debris blocking the lens of the scanner, thus creating a vertical streak in that position during copying, faxing, or scanning. The likely contamination is from paper debris, staples, chads, residual whiteout tape or paste, gel ink, or adhesive material.
Service Action
Recommend the SVC Bezel Cleaning Kit, Part number: 41X1007, when setting up service.
Note: Use the wet wipe first to loosen and clean most of the debris, followed by the dry wipe to remove any residual film that might be left from the initial cleaning.
