Troubleshooting

Follow these steps in succession, or jump directly to a topic if you have already eliminated any of these possible causes:

Check for the existence of a non-genuine Lexmark supplies* or refilled cartridges. Use the on-line authentication tool to verify whether you have a Genuine Lexmark cartridge.

Is the cartridge genuine?

See next Step 2.Contact your point of purchase for a possible a refund or to demand a genuine replacement cartridge.

Check the Paper Type for the media loaded in the printer's paper tray.

To do this from the control panel:

  1. From the home screen, navigate to:

    or
    > Settings > Paper Menu >Paper Size / Type, and then Tray 1 Type, for example.

  2. Adjust to desired paper type setting (e.g., Plain, Transparency, Labels, Bond, Letterhead, Preprinted, Colored Paper, Light Paper, Rough/Cotton.)

  3. Press the Submit or

    button.

  4. Test

To do this from the Embedded Web Server (EWS):

  1. Open a web browser and enter http://printer's_IP_address

    ¹

    into the address field.

  2. Click Settings > Print Menu > Tray configuration > Paper Size / Type.

  3. Change the type, and click Submit.

  4. Test.

Check the Paper Weight for the type ofmedia selected.

To do this from the control panel:

  1. From the home screen, navigate to:

    > Settings > Paper Menu >Paper Weight.

  2. Adjust to desired paper type setting (e.g., Plain - Light, Medium or Heavy, Cardstock - Light, Medium, Heavy)

  3. Press the Submit or

    button.

  4. Test

To do this from the Embedded Web Server (EWS):

  1. Open a web browser and enter http://printer's_IP_address

    into the address field.

  2. Click Settings > Print Menu > Paper Weight.

  3. Change the paper weight for the type selected in Step 2 above, and click Submit.

  4. Test.

Switch media to an approved media type and weight and again test.

printer's_IP_address is the TCP/IP address of the printer. This value can be seen on the printer's home screen or on a printed network settings page. If using a proxy server, then temporarily disable it to load the Web page correctly.
