Lexmark MX91x ? The Control Panel Display Freezes When Pressing the Fax Icon

Overview

The printer display freezes/hangs after pressing the Fax icon. In this scenario, the other icons on the Control Panel screen are unresponsive when you press on them and the printer has to be rebooted first before it can function again in its normal state.

Troubleshooting

Power off the printer if it is no longer responsive after pressing the fax icon.

Isolate the issue by disconnecting the analog telephone line.

Power on the printer and see if it detects the absence of the analog telephone line.


Note:
Typically, the printer should detect the absence of the analog line since the “Enable Line Connected Detection” in the fax settings is set to “On” by default. You can verify this by navigating through: Menu > Settings > Fax Settings > Analog Fax Setup > General Fax Settings > Enable Line Connected Detection.

If the printer is unable to detect the absence of the analog line even with the “Enable Line Connected Detection” selected, contact Lexmark Technical Support to set up service for the printer.
