Troubleshooting

Steps

Actions

1

For a print quality defect of this type, it is always advisable to print the following:

  • Print Quality Pages – To get a detailed look at your printer's output; these pages allow each color plane to be viewed independently to determine whether the issue is with one color (possibly due to a single supply item), or with all the colors (indicating a more general issue with the printer).

Note: The User's Guide provides detailed instructions for navigating through the printer menus.

2

Using the Print Quality Pages, verify whether the printer is printing out blank pages. This includes situations where all pages are coming out blank as well as situations where the print job prints correctly but extra blank pages occur intermittently.

Note: If issue occurs only with one color is missing, please Missing color plane or very light color (one color) on printed pages.

3

Verify that all of the color developers units (DU) are installed. If all DUsare installed, remove from the printer and shake the unit aggressively. Then re-install into printer.

4

Verify that all packing material has been removed from the developers units and photoconductor units.

Note: Packing material left on the supplies may cause print quality defects such as those illustrated in the image above.

5

If issue persists after performing the steps mentioned above, there may be an issue within the hardware of the machine. Please contact Lexmark Technical Support for other troubleshooting suggestions.
