How to Remove the WS-Scan Icon from the MFP Screen


This article provides instructions for removing the WS-Scan icon from the MFP screen.

Only printers that are equipped with the necessary device profiles for web services (DPWS) architecture support this functionality.

Before you begin

Obtain your printer's TCP/IP address and access the printer's web page from a computer with internet access.

  • You can locate your printer's IP_Address on the network settings page under TCP/IP. This page is obtained by selecting Menus > Reports > Network Settings from the touch screen.
  • Next, access the printer's web page by entering the IP address directly into the address field; for example, http://printer_IP_address.

Port deactivation

The easiest way to remove this icon from the touch screen is to deactivate the TCP/IP port required by the WSD-scan service.

Once you have accessed the printer's web page, perform these steps:

1Click on Settings.
2Click on Security.
3Click on TCP/IP Port Access.
4Locateand uncheck TCP 65004 (WSD Scan Service).
5Click Submit.

The icon should be removed after you see Submitting selection at the end of the process.
