Defect Symptom

Your printer produces faded or light images, text, and halftones. If the Color Saver feature is turned on, the lightness of the image will be uniform.

Troubleshooting
  1. Enter the Color Menu and verify that Color Saver is turned off.

  2. Print the Menu Settings Page(s) to determine whether any of the supplies are low.
    NOTE:
    If any of supplies are low, they will need to be replaced to ensure optimal print quality.

  3. Make sure the media being used is within specifications and that the Paper Type, Weight, and Texture settings match the media on the tray.

  4. Determine whether the printer's operating environment is within acceptable ranges of air temperature and humidity.

  5. Remove the toner cartridges and inspect them for damage or for any debris that may have become stuck in them.

  6. Remove the image transfer unit (ITU) and then reinstall it. Make sure it is seated completely into the printer.

  7. Gently shake the toner cartridges and place them back in the printer.

  8. Print the Print Quality Pages from the printer's Configuration Menu to see if the print quality is now acceptable.
