Identifying if the computer is running Windows or macOS

Overview

Unlike certain software applications, device drivers such as printer drivers must match the operating system architecture.

Procedures

Microsoft Windows (Windows OS)

1. Right click on Computer/This PC icon in the start menu or desktop. Select Properties from the menu.



2. Check the Operating System under Windows edition section.



3. Check whether the Operating System runs on a 32-bit or 64-bit under System Type.

Macintosh Operating System (macOS)

1. Click on the Apple icon located at the upper left of the screen.



2. From the Apple menu, click on About This Mac.



3. Click on the Overview tab.
