900.00 or 900.30 Errors Prevent Fax Forwarding on the X46x, X65x, X73x, and X86x Series MFPs

What you will see

An observed 900.00 or 900.30 Firmware Error resulting from the MFPs inability to fax forward to e-mail or FTP servers.

This is evidenced by the following behavior:

• -The sending fax machine receives confirmation of successful fax transmission.
• -Fax Jobs will be received but not forwarded to respective e-mail or FTP destinations.
• -Power cycling or turning the device off and on does not eliminate the error.
• -An observed increase in the number of pending fax jobs in the fax queue.

900 or 900.30 Errors

One of the following errors will occur:

900.00 Firmware Error Process Qsrc_2:1892 caught SIGSEGV addr=0 nip – caused by a color fax not containing the properly designated number of lines in the JPEG header;

or

900.00 Firmware Error .. HostSend.InOSed……failed to allocate mem from destination pool – caused by the sender not sending the proper number of EOL markers.

Suggested Remedy

A known firmware update addresses this issue.

Firmware update steps:

1. Obtain the MFP's current device firmware level.



2. Identify fix firmware for your MFP.



3. Look for the existence of any DLEs or special codes.



4. After calling Lexmark to obtain the firmware, follow any of the update procedures.

Step 1: Check Device Firmware Levels

Embedded Web Server (EWS) Method:

1. Open the printer's web page,



2. Click on Reports.



3. Click on Device Information.



4. Identify value next to Base.

Optionally, print the Menu Settings Page from the device. To do this, press Menus > Reports > Menus Settings Page and look under Device Information for the equivalent Base code value.
