Lexmark C792&X792 ? Background Print Defect

Overview

The background defect pictured below is toner (usually of a single color) that runs the length of the page. It generally starts in the vertical margins, but becomes wider as the cartridge continues its run. This background can occur in any color, although

Cyan

is most prevalent. This defect can be seen intensified on print jobs requiring minimum toner to print (low coverage run modes) in low temperature/humidity environments. Below are two examples of the background defect (one in Cyan and one in Yellow).

Recommended Solution

Identify the status of the particular toner color appearing on the background. To do this:

Press Menu (

) on the printer’s operator panel.

Press Supplies Menu.

Check the status of the toner appearing on the background.

  • If the color in question shows “Low” or “Near End of Life”, replace the toner and see if it resolves the issue.
  • If the color in question is still “High” or “Ok”, or if you already replaced the toner and the issue still persists, contact Lexmark Technical Support to request replacement for the toner.
