How to clone a secured printer using Lexmark Markvision Enterprise (MVE)

Issue description

When cloning a configuration from a printer through MVE, the current security settings are saved as part of the configuration. Adding some Solutions to the configured printer adds new Function Access Controls to the printer’s security settings, which causes the configuration to show as out of conformity.

Solution

Installing all desired Solutions to the printer prior to cloning the configuration will avert the issue's occurrence and will fix it. Please follow recommended instructions below:

1. Upload the Solutions to the MVE library. Please refer to Importing files to the library on page 26 of MVE’s User Guide, for the steps to upload the solutions.



2. Add the Solutions to the configuration. Please go to Adding solutions to a configuration on page 30 in the MVE’s User Guide for the steps in adding them.



3. Assign and enforce the configuration to other devices that require the same settings and Solutions. Please refer to MVE’s User Guide, and go to Enforcing a configuration on page 31 for the steps.
