Duplicate Printer Entries and Running Tasks will Hang in the Task log when Upgrading to MVE 3.5

Issue Description:

After upgrading to Markvision (MVE) 3.5 and a discovery operation is executed, duplicate printer entries will appear in the printer’s list.

In addition, some kinds of tasks (scheduled tasks, system tasks) will appear in the Task Log, but will not show any progress and will stay in the list until manually deleted.

Solution:

To resolve this issue make sure to upgrade Markvision (MVE) to the latest 3.5.1 version or higher. This will fix the root cause of this failing case and prevent future reoccurrence.

This update will not remove any duplicate printer objects or frozen/hung tasks. To remove these:

  • Select any frozen/hung tasks in the task log and manually delete them.

  • For duplicate printers in the Printer’s List, identify the duplicate printer listings by sorting the address list and manually delete them.


Note:

If unable to remove the duplicate printer objects manually, there are scripts which are available to scrub the database and remove these duplicate objects. Please contact Lexmark Technical Support.
