Defect Symptom

Starvation refers to light print or darkness of the print that fades from the top to the bottom of the page, as below.

Troubleshooting
  1. Check the supplies status as shown as on the "Device Statistics" pages in the "Reports" menu. Replace any toner cartridges that show "Toner Low".

  2. Perform the "Color Adjust" procedure in the "Quality" menu.

  3. Print the "Print Defects Guide" in the "Help" menu and review the print samples.

  4. If the light print affects only one color (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, or Black), remove, shake, and reinstall the toner cartridge of that color.

  5. If the light print persists after shaking, replace the toner cartridge.

  6. If the light print affects all colors, or persists after completing the above steps, contact Lexmark Technical Support for further assistance.
