Defect Symptom

Feathering refers to wispy, white, horizontal lines appearing at the edge of the printed page.

Troubleshooting
  1. Perform the "Color Adjust" procedure in the "Quality" menu.

  2. Print the "Print Defects Guide" in the "Help" menu and review the print samples.

  3. The defect pictured may be seen in cool or dry climates. Ensure that the printer, toner cartridges, and photoconductors are all at normal, room temperatures.

  4. This print quality defect is associated with the photoconductor units. If warmer temperatures (>60F / 16C) do not help, replace the photoconductor units.

  5. For optimum print quality and reliability, Lexmark recommends always replacing photoconductor units in complete sets. Be sure to reset the photoconductor life counter for each photoconductor unit replace.
