924.xx Service Fuser Error on a Lexmark T64x Series Printer

ENUS19122

Explanation

A 924.xx error message indicates that an "open circuit" has been detected in the fuser unit.

What to do

  1. If this is the first time you have seen the error, turn the printer off.

  2. Leave the printer off for at least 10 seconds to give it a chance to reset, then turn it back on.

  3. If this does not clear the fuser error, the printer will probably require service. The parts most likely to be causing this error are the following: the fuser unitthe system boardthe low voltage power supplyunit. These parts will need to be inspected by a service technician and replaced as necessary. IMPORTANT! If this is an intermittent error, you may want to check how the printer is plugged into the wall. Make sure it is plugged straight into the wall and not through a surge device or power strip. Verify also whether the printer works on a 110 or 220 volt source by checking its Power Label on its back and ensure that the power outlet matches its working voltage rating.

Please carry out this test even if the printer has worked properly at its power outlet in the past. Power strips and uninterrupted power supplies can cause a low amperage condition to occur within in the printer, which can trigger a false fuser error.
