Unable to authenticate via manual login after printer repair

Overview

You cannot authenticate on a printer’s control panel via Manual Login in order to release a Lexmark Print Management (LPM) print job. Card authentication works.

NOTE: This happens after the printer has been repaired (e,g., system board replacement).

Affected products

See supported printers list found on the Lexmark Print Management Administrator’s Guide.

Recommended solution

Perform the following steps:

Step

Action

1

Open the printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS) using any web browsers (e.g., Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, etc.)

2

Go to Settings >Embedded Solutions or Device Solutions Solutions (eSF) or Apps Apps Management >Badge Authentication >Configure tab.

3

Make sure Logon Method is set to Card or Manual Login, and then click Apply.

Note: Try to authenticate via Manual Login again. If the issue persists, proceed with next steps.

4

Open a web browser, and then go to http://<loadbalancer IP address>:9780/lmc to open the Lexmark Management Console (LMC).

5

Go to the Device Groups tab > Discovered Devices, and then make sure that the printer’s IP address is on the list.

6

Go to the Devicestab, search the printer’s IP address, click on Policy Update, uncheck “Only update those devices which are Out of Policy”, and then click on Update Policy.
