Installing the output expander or high‑capacity output expander

CAUTION—TIPPING HAZARD:  Installing one or more options on your printer or MFP may require a caster base, furniture, or other feature to prevent instability causing possible injury. For more information on supported configurations, see www.lexmark.com/multifunctionprinters.

  1. Turn off the printer.

  2. Unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet, and then from the printer.

  3. Unpack the output expander or high‑capacity output expander.

  4. Attach the guide bar to the output expander or high‑capacity output expander.

Note:  When installing multiple options, attach the guide bar only to the option that is connected directly to the printer.

    1. Position the output expander on its side.

    2. Insert the tabs of the guide bar into the output expander.

    3. Slide the guide bar to the right until it clicks into place.

  5. Remove the printer top cover.

  6. Install the output expander on the printer, and then push it down to make sure that it is securely attached to the printer.

In configuration with two or more hardware options:

    • The output expander is the only option that can be placed on top of the high‑capacity output expander.
    • The high‑capacity output expander must always be at the bottom of the configuration.
  7. Connect the power cord to the printer, and then to the electrical outlet.

CAUTION—POTENTIAL INJURY:  To avoid the risk of fire or electrical shock, connect the power cord to an appropriately rated and properly grounded electrical outlet that is near the product and easily accessible.

  8. Turn on the printer.

Add the output expander in the print driver to make it available for print jobs. For more information, see Adding available options in the print driver.
